Max Verstappen kicked off his Formula One title defence in commanding style, showcasing his skills at the Bahrain Grand Prix. The Oracle Red Bull Racing ace demonstrated sheer dominance, securing victory in the 20th Bahrain Grand Prix and marking the commencement of the team’s 20th season.

Starting from the pole position, Verstappen controlled the race from start to finish, leading every lap with flair. Teammate Sergio Pérez showcased a remarkable performance, climbing from fifth on the grid to secure a solid second place, mirroring the impressive 1-2 result achieved in the previous season opener. Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz completed the podium, adding to the thrilling spectacle.

Pérez secured his third podium at the Bahrain Grand Prix, adding to his impressive career milestone of winning the one-off Sakhir Grand Prix in 2020 on a different track layout at the same venue. This victory contributed to the team’s consistent success at the season-opener, as they once again gathered a maximum of 44 points for the second consecutive year.

Despite challenges faced by Leclerc with braking issues, Verstappen capitalised on a clear track ahead of him, catapulting himself to an unstoppable lead. His 55th career win was a testament to his skill and determination, as he commanded all 57 laps of the race. Notably, Verstappen’s performance reached its peak on Lap 39, where his fastest lap (1m 32.608s) outpaced his rivals by a remarkable 1.4 seconds, emphasising his unmatched dominance.

This victory marked Verstappen’s eighth consecutive triumph, extending his winning streak from the previous season. As he soared to success under the Bahrain night sky, the Oracle Red Bull Racing driver solidified his position as a force to be reckoned with in the Formula One arena.
